People Business Partners

People Business Partners (PBPs) are senior HR professionals who work in partnership with Care Groups and Corporate Teams to support the Trust’s priorities through its people. They act as strategic advisors to leaders, ensuring workforce plans align with local service needs and Trust-wide People and Workforce strategies. Details of PBP alignment to Care Groups can be found in the attached document.

In January 2026, the People Business Partner and Employee Relations (ER) teams merged. This change strengthened local oversight of ER case management and will enabled ER issues to be resolved more effectively and in a timely way.

What do People Business Partners do?

  • Partner with Triumvirates and senior leaders to resolve workforce challenges
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership on people matters, including organisational change, workforce capability and performance improvement
  • Use workforce data and insight to inform decisions and drive improvement
  • Support leaders to improve workforce KPIs, including recruitment, retention, appraisal, sickness and Statman compliance
  • Act as the first point of contact for people matters, signposting to specialist teams where needed
